BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team swept Southwestern Assemblies of God on Tuesday in a double header 1-0 and 7-3.

The Lady Jackets out hit the Lions 21-12 in the double header which included three doubles and two triples for Howard Payne.
Â
Game One
Howard Payne only needed one run to get the win in the first game of the double header on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
The Lady Jackets scored their first and only run in the fourth inning when
Brianna Lopez drew a walk with the bases loaded to score
Zaleigh Perez.
Â
Lopez finished 2-for-2 at the plate with one RBI.
Zaleigh Perez went 1-for-1 and
Deandra Longoria went 2-for-1 at the plate for the Lady Jackets.

HPU's
Bree Cason pitched all seven innings and recorded the win allowing no runs on four hits.
Â
Game Two
The Lady Jackets were hot in the bottom of the second inning, scoring four runs to take the 4-0 lead.
Alyssa Corpus singled up the middle to score Kayla hill to get Howard Payne on the board.

The Lions scored their first runs of the afternoon in the fourth inning to make the score 4-2.

Howard Payne scored another run in the fifth inning on a
Madison Love double to score
Alyssa Corpus and push their lead to three. The Lady Jackets scored two more runs in the sixth inning to give them a five-run lead heading into the last inning.

The Lions scored one run in the top of the seventh but it was not enough to catch the Lady Jackets. The final score was 7-3.

Aurora Luera went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Jackets.
Madison Love went 3-for-3 with two RBI and
Alyssa Corpus went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Also, with two RBI was
Alexis Sullivan.

HPU's
Tia Campos recorded the win allowing three runs on eight hits.

The Lady Jackets move to 3-1 on the season while the Lions fall to 4-2. Howard Payne will begin conference play on Friday Feb. 26
th when they take on UT Dallas in Richardson, Texas.
