BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team closed out the weekend series with a 7-5 loss to the University of the Ozarks. Howard Payne won the series 2-1.
Ozarks outhit Howard Payne 12-8. The Lady Jackets recorded one double and one triple.
The Eagles got on the board first, scoring one run in the first inning. The Lady Jackets had a big second inning, scoring five runs.
Aurora Luera's 3 RBI triple highlighted the inning.
Howard Payne allowed six runs in the top of fifth to go down 7-5. The Lady Jackets were unable to recover and dropped the third game of the series.
Kayla hill went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Jackets.
Alexis Sullivan went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
The Lady Jackets fall to 7-3 on the season and 4-2 in the American Southwest Conference. The Eagles improve to 1-4 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.
Howard Payne will take on Trinity University in Abilene, Texas, on March 8th, starting at 12 pm.
