BELTON, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team dropped the third game of the series versus the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor 15-6 in five innings on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Jackets got on the board in the second inning, scoring on a
Zaleigh Perez double that plated
Alyssa Corpus.Â
Howard Payne was down 10-1 entering the third inning and scored four runs to get within five, making the score 10-5. The Lady Jackets were unable to hold off the Cru, allowing them to score five runs in the third.Â
HPU was able to score one more run on an
Alexis Sullivan double that plated
Madison Love. The Lady Jackets were unable to catch the Cru falling 15-6.
Alexis Sullivan went 2-for-3 at the plate with 4 RBI for Howard Payne.
Brianna Lopez went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.
Tia Campos (6-8) started on the mound pitching 1.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits.Â
Howard Payne drops to 12-13 on the season and 7-11 in conference play. Mary Hardin-Baylor improves to 17-11 on the season and 11-7 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will take on Hardin-Simmons in a three-game series starting on Friday, April 16th.
