Football Announces 2022 Schedule

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University football program announced today its 2022 schedule featuring non-conference games versus Hendrix College and George Fox University.

The Yellow Jacket football team, who finished 7-3 overall in 2021, will open up the 2022 season on the road versus Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas at 1:00 pm on September 3rd. Howard Payne defeated Texas Lutheran 43-17 in the 2021 season opener.

After HPU went to Newburg, OR in 2018, George Fox University will now travel to Brownwood on September 10th for a 7:00 pm kickoff at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Next, the Jackets will play, for the second straight year, Hendrix College in Prosper ISD's Children's Health Stadium in Prosper, Texas. It will be a 3:00 pm kickoff on September 17th. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Warriors 55-21 last season.

On September 24th, HPU will return home to play a conference matchup with East Texas Baptist University at 1:00 pm. 

The Yellow Jackets will play Sul Ross State University on the road in Alpine, Texas on October 1st at 1:00 pm. Then HPU will have back-to-back home games versus McMurry University on Oct. 8th at 1:00 pm and Southwestern University on Oct. 15th at 2:00 pm.

After an open week, HPU returns to action on Oct. 29th against Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas at 1:00 pm and the next week, November 5th at home versus the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1:00 pm.

Howard Payne will finish the regular season on Nov. 12th versus Austin College in Sherman, Texas at 1:00 pm

Howard Payne plays all of its home games at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood, Texas. Ticket prices are $5 - Adults, $3 - Senior Citizens, $2 - kids ages 12-18, Kids under 12 - Free.

HPU home games are streamed at HPUsports.com and a radio broadcast is available on HPU's host station KYOX 94.3 FM locally and online.
