BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University baseball team fell 14-1 in a non-conference game to the Southwestern University Pirates this afternoon at Don Shepard Park.
The Yellow Jackets were outhit by the Pirates 13-6 and committed three errors which led to the loss.
Howard Payne was able to score one run in the fourth inning on an RBI double from
RJ Roberts, bringing in
Derek Gifford.
Nicholas Richards led the Jackets at the plate going 1-for-2 with a double down the left field line. Richards and Roberts each had a double for the Jackets.
Ricky Mays recorded the loss in the start for HPU allowing four runs on twohits in 1.1 innings of work.

Landin Blass,
Dean Evans, and
D'Andrey Silva each saw time in relief.
Brendan Read recorded three strikeouts in 2.0 innings.
Howard Payne University will travel to Longview, Texas this weekend to face LeTourneau University in a three game conference series starting at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 25th.
