RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The Howard Payne University baseball team dropped two games to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets, 0-3, and 0-12.
Game One
No runs were scored for either team until fifth inning when the Comets added one run to the board. The final two runs were scored in the sixth making it a 3-0 game.
HPU was unable to answer dropping game one in todays doubleheader.
Joey Villarreal went 1-for-2 at the plate.
Chandler Paul was the starting pitcher recording three runs on four hits and three strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
Dean Evans pitched the reaming 0.2 innings and recorded one strikeout.
Game Two
The Jackets were outhit 2-15 in the second game leading to the 0-12 loss.
The Comets recorded the first six runs in the first inning, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth.
Rylee McGee led the Jackets at the plate going 1-for-2 with a single to left center.
Gary Blair recorded the loss pitching 3.2 innings allowing eight runs on ten hits.
Bryant Chambers was the reliever for Blair recording four runs on four hits and one strikeout in 1.0 innings pitched.
Landin Blass pitched the remaining 1.1 innings with zero runs on one hit and two strikeouts.
The Yellow Jackets will face McMurry University in a three game series next weekend in Brownwood, Texas at Don Shepard Park starting at 2:00 pm on April 22, 2022.
