LONGVIEW, Texas - Howard Payne University's Mitsue Rodriguez recorded 25 Kills in a Lady Jacket 3-2 conference win at LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon.

With each team winning a set back and forth, it came down to the final fifth set. The Lady Jackets held on for a thrilling 19-17 fifth set win to take the match 3-2 (25-22,18-25,25-19,14-25,19-17).

Following Rodriguez' 25 Kills was Carsyn Bilbrey with 15 kills and Abbie Knepper with 8 Kills. Knepper added five Blocks and Rodriguez added a team high 16 Digs. Kaitlyn Elsten led all with 50 assists.

The Lady Jackets best set came in the third with a .351 attack pct. HPU would record double digit kills in four of the five sets.

LeToureau was led by Hannah Payan with 15 Kills and Morgan Nix with 18 Digs.

The Lady Jackets are now 2-9 overall and 1-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Letu stands at 7-5 overall and 3-3 in league play. HPU will play next on Sept. 29th at home versus Concordia University Texas at 6:00 pm.
