ABILENE, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team fell 95-53 to Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon in conference action.

Catlyn Ward led Howard  with 12 points followed by Anna Beamesdefer with 11 points. Trynadee Greenwell added 9 points and five rebounds. Brenna Welsh led with three assists.

Lady Jackets were 9 of 22 (40.9%) from behind the arc in the game. Ward was 2 of 3 from behind the arc and Beamesdefer followed with 3 of 5 shooting from the 3-point line. Greenwell also connected on two 3-pointers.

Howard Payne shooting 26.1% from the field in the first half and Hardin-Simmons connecting on 54.1% of its shots lead to a 56-17 Cowgirl lead at the halftime break.

The Lady Jackets outscored the Cowgirls 25-22 in the third quarter, but fell in the end 95-53.

Hardin-Simmons was led by Natasha Blizzard with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Aiken Semones added 12 points off the bench.

Howard Payne is now 2-18  overall and 0-13 in American Southwest Conference action. Hardin-Simmons stands at 18-2 on the year and 13-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play next at home on Thursday versus Concordia University Texas at 5:30 pm.
