MARSHALL, TX --The Howard Payne Univeristy volleyball team lost to the East Texas Baptist Tigers in three sets (16-25, 10-25, 19-25) Friday on the road at Ornelas Gymnasium.
The loss dropped Howard Payne's record to 11-11 overall and 6-9 in ASC play.
Makenzie Weddel finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Lady Jackets attack. HPU got 14 digs from Jayden Harrison to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Jackets found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-16. Howard Payne trailed by as many as nine points as East Texas Baptist grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that was notted up nine times before the Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Howard Payne then dropped set two 25-10 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Howard Payne trailed by as many as 16 points as East Texas Baptist grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was tied up two times before the Tigers took over the lead.
SET 3 | Howard Payne was not able to win the third set and was swept by East Texas Baptist. The Lady Jackets dropped a tough set 25-19. Howard Payne trailed by as many as six points as East Texas Baptist grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up five times before the Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
The Lady Jackets will travel to Kerrville, Texas Wednesday, November 1st as they take on Schreiner University in what will be their final non-conference game of the year. HPU will close the season out on Thursday, November 2nd hosting Concordia (TX) in the historic Brownwood Coliseum with a 6:00 PM start-time.
