BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University's Bree Cason recorded five strikeouts in a 2-1 conference loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday afternoon.

HPU's Bree Cason allowed just one run on six hits in 7.0 innings of work for the Lady Jackets. Sydney West threw the extra inning eighth allowing one run on one hit.

The Lady Jacket had four players record a hit, Madison Forrester, Elaine Gonzalez, Maddison Cason, and Makayla Fuentes. Gonzalez's was a double for the Lady Jackets.

HPU recorded its only run in the game on a Simonne Sanders sacrifice fly to score Forrester.in the fourth inning.

UMHB recorded its first run in the sixth on a passed ball and the winning run in the eighth on a RBI double down the left line.

Howard Payne is now 3-6 overall and UMHB stands at 6-2 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play next this weekend on the road at East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas. It will be a three-game conference series starting on Friday at 4:00 pm.
