BROWNWOOD, TEXAS – This afternoon, the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets dropped game three versus University of the Ozarks 11-7, although still won the series.
The Eagles scored the first runs of the game in the top of the second, scoring two runs.
HPU's
Joey Villarreal grounded out to second base, bringing home
Seth Bowman for the run in the bottom of the third.
In the fourth inning,
JP Zuniga-Rodriguez singled through the right-side brining home
Kayden Kelley. Will Burford then singled to right field, allowing
Landon Prestage to score. Burford and Zuniga-Rodriguez were able to score two runs off of a hit by
Joey Villarreal, making the score 5-2 HPU.
The Ozarks score two more runs in the top of the fifth, followed by one run by
Seth Bowman from Howard Payne in the bottom of the sixth.
By the bottom of the seventh inning the score was 8-6 Ozarks.
In the ninth inning, the Eagles scored three more runs, and the Jackets scored one more run by
John Garza. This made the final score 11-7.
Yellow Jackets' JP Zuniga-Rodriuez led the team with three hits and one RBI, followed by
Carson Wert with three hits.
The Yellow Jackets are now 16-18 on the season and 9-12 in conference. They will compete next on Friday, April 21
st, at 7:00 pm versus Sul Ross State University.
