BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University's
Bree Cason recorded nine strikeouts in game one of the Lady Jackets' double-header versus the University of Texas at Dallas Thursday afternoon.
Game One
HPU starter
Bree Cason recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in an 8-4 loss. Cason allowed five runs on six hits.
Simonne Sanders led HPU going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a double.
Makayla Wesley followed going 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, a homerun, and a stolen base.
Amber Williams also hit a homerun, her first as a Lady Jacket.
Sydney West also saw .2 innings of relief in the circle allowing three runs on two hits.
Game Two
Despite falling 3-0 in game two, the HPU defense was solid allowing just three runs on 10 hits.
Madison Forrester,
Alexia Perkkio, and
Maddison Cason each recorded a hit for Howard Payne.
Sydney West got the loss in the start allowing three runs on ten hits and striking out two.
Heather Wineman went the final final frame striking out two.
Both teams will finish out their conference series on Friday with a single game starting at 12:00 noon.
