BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell to the East Texas Baptist Tigers in straight sets (7-25, 22-25, 15-25) Saturday at home at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The loss dropped Howard Payne's record to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in ASC play.
Brylee Awbrey finished with six kills on the day to lead the Lady Jackets offense. HPU got 13 digs from Riley Brittain to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Jackets found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-7. Howard Payne trailed by as many as 18 points as East Texas Baptist never gave up the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Tigers took control.
SET 2 | Howard Payne lost the second set 25-22, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Lady Jackets dropped a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.
SET 3 | Howard Payne could not win set three and was swept by East Texas Baptist. The Lady Jackets lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the set 25-15.
The Lady Jackets will be back in action October 6th taking on UMHB in a double header with the first match starting at 5:00 PM.
