BROWNWOOD, TX --The Howard Payne volleyball team won both games against Huston Tillotson convincingly, sweeping both matches.
In the first game, the Lady Jackets won the sets (25-8, 31-29, 26-24)
The first non-conference win of the day moved the Yellow Jackets' overall record to 4-0 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets were led by a double-double from Tara Bennett, who registered 13 kills and 11 digs in the contest. Brylee Awbrey also added seven kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Emilee Casey chipped in for with 13 digs to go with two blocks from Rylee Spencer.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yellow Jackets won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-8. Howard Payne opened up its biggest lead, 17 points, to close out the set.
SET 2 | Howard Payne took the second set 31-29 to swiftly take a 2-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets came out on top of a close second set, winning in a stanza that was tied 12 times and had four lead changes.
SET 3 | Howard Payne took the third set to sweep the match. The Yellow Jackets persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 26-24 in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way. The Howard Payne offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
In game two, the Lady Jackets won their sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-21)
The second non-conference win of the day improved Howard Payne's overall record to 5-0 on the season.
Makenzie Weddel finished with 11 kills in this match to lead the Yellow Jackets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .625. got eight digs from Emilee Casey to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yellow Jackets grabbed the first set 25-19 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. Howard Payne put together a .364 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set victory. The Yellow Jackets rallied from down 10 at 18-8 to grab the win.
SET 2 | Howard Payne took the second set 25-20 to promptly take a 2-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that had just one lead change before the Yellow Jackets took over the lead. The Yellow Jackets hit .300 over the course of the set. The Howard Payne offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Howard Payne took set three to sweep the match 3-0. The Yellow Jackets the set set three 25-21. Howard Payne took the lead for good at 21-20 in a set that had just one lead change before the Yellow Jackets took over in the second half of the stanza.
