Howard Payne continued its strong stretch of play Tuesday afternoon, defeating George Fox 59–52 at the Brownwood Coliseum to earn its fourth consecutive victory and move back to .500 at 6–6 on the season. The Yellow Jackets controlled the game from the opening tip, never surrendering the lead in front of the hometown crowd.
Caitlyn Panuco led the way with a game-high 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting while also knocking down nine free throws. Caitlyn Parsons recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the paint on both ends. Taylor McAfee added 10 points, and the Jackets balanced scoring effort helped build a 14-point advantage midway through the third quarter.
Howard Payne finished the afternoon shooting 40 percent from the floor and outscored George Fox 24–14 in the paint while committing just six turnovers. Defensively, the Jackets limited the Bruins to 31.5 percent from the field and held the lead for nearly the entire contest. Howard Payne will look to keep its momentum rolling on the road Friday, Dec. 19, with a 6:00 pm matchup at Hendrix College.
