Indian Creek Townhomes Featured Student-Athletes

The Indian Creek Townhomes is the proud sponsor of Howard Payne's Featured Student-Athlete which highlights HPU student-athletes weekly throughout the school year.  Each week during the school year one female and one male student-athlete are highlighted and will post videos to HPU sports' Instagram account @hpusports.

AMADA MENCHACA

Along with her multiple season with the HPU women's golf team, Amada is also a member of the HPU cheerleading program. 

2023-24: Amada was the Lady Jackets lowest round average leader playing in every tournament for Howard Payne. A CSC Academic All-District selection, she also received ASC Academic All-Conference and was named to the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team.

2022-23: A CSC Academic All-District selection, Menchaca played in six tournaments for the Yellow Jackets. She had one top 20 placement finishing 18th at the DIII Lidlifter. She also received ASC Academic All-Conference.

2021-22: Menchaca played in nine tournaments for the Lady Jackets. She also received ASC Academic All-Conference.

HS: Amada attended Blanket High School in Blanket, Texas, where she played varsity golf for four years. In her time there, Amada won the district championship as a senior and qualified for the regional tournament. She was a part of a team that were two-time state qualifiers and two-time regional and district champions. She also participated in cross country, track, basketball, and cheer.

Personal: Amada is the daughter of Robert and Kristal Menchaca and has four siblings. She is majoring in kinesiology and aspires to be a teacher and a coach.

CARTER MAY

This season: A part of the regular rotation for the Yellow Jackets, Carter is averaging 2,7 ppg and 2.6 rpg. 

2023-24: Started in 8 of 17 games played in for the Yellow Jackets averaging 4.4 ppg and 3.6 rebounds. He was one of the top shot blockers in the league with 23 on the year (1.4 per game).

HS: Carter played basketball at Aubrey High School located in Aubrey, Texas where he was named 2020 All-Defensive Team, 2020 Newcomer of the Year, 2021 All-Area Second Team, 2021 All-District First Team, 2022 All-District First Team, 2022 All-Area First Team, 2023 District MVP, 2023 All-Area MVP, and 2023 TABC All-Region Team. Carter is also the all-time leading scorer at Aubrey High School.

Personal: Carter is the son of Janelle May and has one sibling. He plans to major in Kinesiology and aspires to be a coach.
