Box Score MARSHALL, Texas --
The Howard Payne Women's Tennis team faced off in Marshall, Texas on Friday for their second conference game under Head Coach Mark Hathorn. 

The day was just not in HPU's favor, as ETBU swept their match ups against the Lady Jackets. 

The Match up of the day saw HPU's Hannah Lightner and ETBU's Bailey Smith battle it as they were the in the one's slot for singles. Teammates, coaches, and fans gathered around the fence line to watch these two athletes battle against each other. Both ladies were in awe of each others skill set, as both were making points left and right. In a competition where miscues could be detrimental, HPU's Lightner just had one too many, as Smith took the game 6-4 and 6-3

The doubles squad saw exciting action with their one's and three's. Lightner and Victoria Ramos battled hard, but dropped 6-4. HPU's Kendra Werlein and CAroline Marshall managed to show true teamwork, making smart, correctly timed switches that threw off ETBU's Duatre and Macquet. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as they too, lost 6-4.
