Chambers pitches a complete game as HPU comes up short 7-4 to ETBU

BROWNWOOD, Texas --The East Texas Baptist Tigers were too much for Howard Payne on this particular day, as the Yellow Jackets fell 7-4 on Thursday.

B. Chambers (1-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (7-19, 0-5).

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by W. Burford, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a triple and three RBI. J. Garza put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. E. McNair also contributed for Howard Payne, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Yellow Jackets got the scoring started early, putting three runs on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Howard Payne's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run triple off the bat of Burford. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as East Texas Baptist scored seven times over the remaining eight innings to grab the 7-4 win.
