MARSHALL, Texas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets 9-1 despite the efforts of senior Jackson Earle, who went 1-for-2.
Senior Bryant Chambers (1-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (7-14, 0-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Yellow Jackets first put runs on the board in the third inning. Junior Hunter Rasnick-Pope came across to score the lone run of the inning for Howard Payne and get them on the board. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get any closer, as LeTourneau added four runs to their tally on the way to a 9-1 final.

MARSHALL, Texas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets struggled on Sunday, falling to the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets 7-3 despite the efforts of senior Seth Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.
Junior Daylan Bower (1-3) got the ball to start for Howard Payne (7-15, 0-2) and took the loss. Sophomore Brant Wilson was a bright spot for the Yellow Jackets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets were trailing 3-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Howard Payne managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Letourneau Yellow Jackets expanded their lead to 7-2 before the Yellow Jackets offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the seventh. Howard Payne picked up a run on Bowman's two-out solo home run off of Jaxson Breedlove, which brought the score to 7-3 in favor of the Letourneau Yellow Jackets. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.

MARSHALL, Texas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets took a 5-4 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 7-6 to the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets Sunday.
Junior Trevor Rangel (1-2) took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (7-16, 0-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne scored twice, with one run coming across on senior William Burford's single.
The Letourneau Yellow Jackets then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Yellow Jackets expanded their advantage in the fourth. Howard Payne brought home a pair, with one run driven in by senior Landon Prestage's single, which brought the Yellow Jackets lead to 4-1.
LeTourneau narrowed Howard Payne's lead to 4-2 before the Yellow Jackets stretched the advantage to 5-2 in the sixth inning.
The Letourneau Yellow Jackets fought back, closing the gap to 5-4 until Howard Payne added some insurance in the seventh. The Yellow Jackets notched a run on senior Grant Pfaff's one-out RBI double, bringing the score to 6-4 in favor of Howard Payne. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as LeTourneau scored three times over the remaining two innings to grab the 7-6 win.

Freshman Kasey Swan (0-2) got the ball to start for Howard Payne (7-17, 0-4) and took the loss.

The Yellow Jackets were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Howard Payne plated a run on a based-loaded walk by senior Seth Bowman.
The Yellow Jackets deficit grew to 3-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Devin Smith, which tightened the Letourneau Yellow Jackets lead to 3-2. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get any closer, as LeTourneau added three runs to their tally on the way to a 6-2 final.
