SHERMAN, Texas --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Howard Payne had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 11 Yellow Jackets on base in a 6-5 defeat at the hands of the Austin Kangaroos on Tuesday.
B. Read (0-2) came out of the bullpen for Howard Payne (7-18) and took the loss. K. Kuligowsk was a bright spot for the Yellow Jackets, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing two scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets were trailing 5-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Howard Payne scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of C. Chapman.
The Yellow Jackets kept the Kangaroos off the board before tying it up in the seventh. Howard Payne brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Chapman's single, which brought the score level at 5-5. Austin then scored one time over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 6-5 win.
