Whistles, Bats, and Buzzer-Beaters: Brownwood Gears Up for Busy Weekend

All Eyes on Brownwood as Packed Sports Weekend Takes Center Stage

The Saturday slate in Brownwood is shaping up to feel less like a schedule and more like a full-blown campus festival of competition. From first serve to final buzzer, Howard Payne fans will have a packed home lineup to rally around as four Jacket programs take center stage.

Men's tennis gets the first crack at the spotlight with its home opener against Hardin-Simmons University. After a challenging start to the spring, the Yellow Jackets enter the weekend with a sharpened edge and plenty of motivation to flip the script on their home courts. Energy has been high in practice all week, and Saturday presents a fresh stage to turn hard lessons into momentum. First serve is set for 10 a.m., with the second match of the day following at 2 p.m.

Baseball will carry that home-opener energy straight into the afternoon as the Jackets welcome Arlington Baptist for their first home series of the season. Howard Payne is coming off its first win of the year on Thursday, and the timing could not be better. With that first victory now in the rearview mirror, the squad rolls into Brownwood looking to stack confidence alongside results. The home crowd will get two chances to see the momentum in motion with games scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Women's basketball hosts East Texas Baptist University in a pivotal ASC conference matchup that doubles as the Lady Jackets' final home game of the season. With postseason positioning and pride on the line, the 1 p.m. tip carries added emotional weight as the team defends its home floor one last time this year.

The day crescendos with men's basketball, who also face East Texas Baptist in a key ASC showdown. Saturday marks Senior Day for the Yellow Jackets, as the program honors its seniors before they play their final home game of their collegiate careers. The ceremony adds an extra layer of meaning to an already important conference contest, set to tip off at 3:00 p.m.

Also inside The Coliseum, Howard Payne University Athletics is honored to recognize an extraordinary group of supporters whose generosity and faith-filled commitment makes a lasting impact on Yellow Jacket student-athletes. The Yellow Jacket Club at Howard Payne University is dedicated to supporting over 350 student-athletes within the university's athletic programs. The Yellow Jacket Club is responsible for close to a half million dollars of gifts and partnerships to help support our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence both on and off the court. It will be a great day to say thank you for answering the call to support Howard Payne University Athletics, for pouring into the lives of our student-athletes, and for helping us pursue excellence.

Four teams. Four home stages. One packed Saturday in Brownwood.

From tennis courts in the morning to a Senior Day salute in the afternoon, the Yellow Jackets will have no shortage of storylines as they look to defend home turf across the board.
