BROWNWOOD, Texas — Howard Payne University Athletics is expanding its game-day coverage and creating new opportunities for Yellow Jacket fans to stay connected with the program through a new partnership with Brown County Broadcasting and KOXE.
Beginning with the 2026-27 athletic year, Howard Payne fans will have expanded access to live audio coverage of Yellow Jacket Athletics through KOXE, Brownwood's own locally owned radio outlet. The partnership will provide audio coverage of all HPU football games, all home basketball games, as well as select away contests in basketball and select baseball and softball contests.
The new audio coverage will complement Howard Payne's existing live video streaming partnership with FloCollege, giving Yellow Jacket fans multiple ways to follow their favorite teams whether they are at home, on the road or unable to attend a game in person.
Through the partnership, Howard Payne Athletics will have a dedicated internet channel within the KOXE digital sports network. The channel will be available online and through the KOXE mobile app alongside the station's existing Brownwood, Bangs, Coleman, May and Goldthwaite sports channels. Select Howard Payne games may also be broadcast directly on KOXE-FM when programming and scheduling allow.
"This partnership is about making Howard Payne Athletics more accessible to our community and giving our fans another way to follow the Yellow Jackets," said Howard Payne Director of Athletics
Adam Bright. "KOXE has been a tremendous part of the sports landscape in the Heartland for a long time, and we're excited to bring HPU Athletics into that network in a meaningful way."
"At the same time, this partnership gives us another avenue to tell the story of Howard Payne Athletics, our student-athletes and our coaches. We want people throughout Brown County and the Heartland to know what is happening at HPU, and this partnership helps us do that."
Under the agreement, Brown County Broadcasting will provide the internet broadcast platform, initial technical setup, coordination, scheduling and ongoing support for HPU's broadcasts. KOXE's existing FM and AM platforms will also provide promotional support to help direct listeners to the HPU internet broadcasts.
"We're excited to welcome HPU Athletics to the KOXE sports network. HPU has a strong tradition and an important place in our community, and we're proud to give fans another way to stay connected throughout the year. We believe this partnership is a great fit for both organizations and strengthens local sports coverage across the region." Mitchell Dillard – Brown County Broadcasting
The partnership will also feature a weekly Howard Payne coaches show segment on KOXE-FM as part of the station's existing sports programming. The segment will provide fans with an opportunity to hear directly from HPU coaches and gain additional insight into Yellow Jacket Athletics beyond game day.
"This is a partnership that makes sense for both organizations," Bright said. "We have an opportunity to connect Howard Payne Athletics with an established local sports audience, while KOXE can help us expand the reach of Yellow Jacket Athletics throughout the community. We are grateful to Brown County Broadcasting for seeing the value in what we're building at Howard Payne."
The expanded broadcast opportunities come as Howard Payne Athletics continues to invest in creating a world-class student-athlete experience while strengthening its connection with the Brownwood community and the broader Heartland.
"Howard Payne Athletics is growing, and with that growth comes the responsibility to tell our story better and reach more people," Bright said. "Our student-athletes are doing incredible things in competition, in the classroom and in the community. We want to make sure Yellow Jacket fans have every opportunity to be part of it."
