Howard Payne Athletics Prepares for Full Weekend Slate

HPU Teams Hit the Road While Baseball Hosts Schreiner Friday

Howard Payne athletics will be busy across the state this weekend as several Yellow Jacket programs take the field, court, and course in competition beginning Friday.
The Howard Payne baseball team will return home on Friday, March 6th, hosting Schreiner University for a single game at Don Shepard Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. as the Yellow Jackets look to build momentum in front of their home crowd. The Jackets are winners of 3 of their last 4 games. 
Howard Payne softball will travel to San Antonio, Texas for a doubleheader against Trinity University on Friday. The two teams are scheduled to begin play at 1:00 p.m., with the second game set for approximately 3:00 p.m. as the Yellow Jackets continue their early season slate on the road.
The Howard Payne men's and women's tennis teams will also be in action on Friday, heading to Abilene, Texas for a pair of matches against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue later in the day at 2:00 p.m. 
Howard Payne's men's and women's golf teams will travel to Longview, Texas to compete in the FST Crossing Creeks Invitational held at Crossing Creeks Country Club. The tournament will span three days, running from Sunday, March 8th through Tuesday, March 10th, as the Yellow Jackets look to post strong showings against a competitive field.
Beach volleyball will open its weekend at the Wayland Baptist Tournament in Plainview, Texas. The Yellow Jackets will face Texas Wesleyan on Friday at 1:00 p.m. followed by a matchup with Oklahoma Wesleyan at 5:00 p.m. Howard Payne returns to the sand on Saturday morning with an 8:00 a.m. match against Oklahoma Wesleyan before closing the tournament at 10:00 a.m. against host Wayland Baptist.
With teams competing across multiple venues throughout the state, the weekend presents another opportunity for the Yellow Jackets to continue building momentum during the spring season.
