BROWNWOOD, Texas — Howard Payne University Athletics and the Yellow Jacket Club have announced that registration is now open for the HPU Athletics Hall of Fame Golf Tournament, bringing Yellow Jacket alumni, former student-athletes, coaches, supporters and friends together to celebrate the history of HPU Athletics while investing in its future.
The four-person scramble is scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2026, at The Hideout Golf Club & Resort in Brownwood as part of the HPU Athletics Hall of Fame weekend. The tournament provides an opportunity for Yellow Jackets to reconnect, celebrate the individuals who have helped build the tradition of HPU Athletics and support the student-athletes representing Howard Payne today.

The cost to register a four-person scramble team is $600, while individual golfer registration is available for $175. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, with packages beginning at $250.
Tournament check-in and the driving range will open at 7:30 a.m., with breakfast available beginning at 8:00 a.m. The four-person scramble will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start, followed by lunch and an awards presentation at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Located on the shores of Lake Brownwood, The Hideout provides a unique setting for the event and allows participants to enjoy a day of golf while supporting Howard Payne University Athletics.
"This event is about celebrating the people who helped build the standard of Howard Payne Athletics while creating an opportunity for the Yellow Jacket family to come together and invest in the next generation," HPU Director of Athletics Adam Bright said. "Our Hall of Famers represent some of the very best of what Howard Payne Athletics has been, and we are excited to celebrate their accomplishments while continuing to build on that legacy."
Bright said bringing the tournament back to Brownwood makes the event particularly meaningful.
"We love the idea of having an athletics golf tournament here in Brownwood," Bright said. "It's a chance to bring our alumni, former student-athletes, coaches, supporters and friends back home and give them an opportunity to reconnect with Howard Payne. It also provides another avenue for our great community partners in the Heartland to connect with our current and former student-athletes and friends of Howard Payne University. We want this to become an annual tradition that people look forward to."
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Howard Payne University Athletics, supporting programs throughout the department and helping enhance the student-athlete experience.
Yellow Jacket Club Board President Tim Brasher said the club is excited to host the event and provide another avenue for Yellow Jackets to invest in the future of HPU Athletics.
"We love the idea of a tournament in Brownwood, and The Hideout is a great setting for it," Brasher said. "It's going to be a fun day, but it also has a very important purpose. The proceeds benefit all of HPU's athletic programs, so when people participate or sponsor the tournament, they're making an investment that reaches Yellow Jackets across the entire department."
The Yellow Jacket Club has become an increasingly important partner in the continued growth of HPU Athletics, helping provide resources for student-athlete experiences, facilities and department-wide initiatives.
"There is a lot of momentum within HPU Athletics right now," Brasher said. "There are so many exciting projects going on, and the Yellow Jacket Club is proud to be able to assist with those efforts. We want to continue finding ways to support our coaches and student-athletes and help Howard Payne Athletics continue moving forward."
Bright said the tournament is another example of the importance of Yellow Jacket supporters investing in the department's future.
"The best days of HPU Athletics are right in front of us," Bright said. "We have tremendous momentum, but momentum requires people willing to invest in it. The Yellow Jacket Club has been an incredible partner, and events like this give our entire HPU family an opportunity to be part of what's happening."
The Hall of Fame Golf Tournament will also serve as an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of the Yellow Jackets who have helped establish the traditions and standards of HPU Athletics.
"Our Hall of Fame is about honoring the people who built the standard," Bright said. "We have a responsibility to celebrate their accomplishments and steward that legacy well. At the same time, we're building something for the student-athletes who are wearing the blue and gold today and those who will wear those colors tomorrow."
The Yellow Jacket Club invites alumni, former student-athletes, parents, fans, community members and businesses throughout the Heartland to join the celebration.
"Whether you've been connected to Howard Payne for 50 years or you're just getting connected to HPU Athletics, we want you there," Brasher said. "Come play some golf, celebrate our Hall of Famers, reconnect with old friends and help us continue investing in the future of Howard Payne Athletics."
