Howard Payne Pushes Through Challenging Clash with Tarleton State

Beach Volleyball Meets the Moment Against Division I Opponent Tarleton State

Howard Payne beach volleyball took on Tarleton State, a Division I opponent, in a tough matchup that challenged the team from start to finish. The results didn't go Howard Payne's way, as Tarleton took all matches, but the competition level gave the team a lot of valuable experience and moments to build on. 

Tarleton showed why they are a strong D1 program, playing consistent defense and putting steady pressure on every point. Even with that, Howard Payne continued to compete and stayed in matches longer than the score may show, fighting through long rallies and working to stay composed under pressure. 

Tara Bennet and Sydney had one of the more competitive matchups of the day against Tarleton's number two pair. They played with good energy and stayed in rhythm for stretches, pushing points deep and coming close to taking sets at key moments. Their communication and effort helped keep the match competitive even against a higher level opponent. 

Ashley Quizon and Halie Coon also put together a strong performance against Tarleton's number three pair. They were able to stay in multiple long rallies and nearly took sets as well, showing resilience and adjusting as the match went on. Their effort reflected the team's overall fight throughout the day. 

Even though Howard Payne did not come away with any wins, the matchup gave the team important experience against a Division I program and showed where small improvements can make a big difference in close sets. 

This match also helps prepare the team for Small College Nationals in Alabama, where competition will be high and every point will matter. Facing a D1 opponent like Tarleton gives the team a better idea of the level of play they need to reach and helps build confidence heading into that next stage of competition.
