Jackets Land Multiple ASC All-Conference Selections

From the Plate to the Mound, Jackets Shine in ASC Awards

ASC All-Conference honors brought recognition to a strong group of performers for Howard Payne University baseball, as several Jackets were rewarded for standout seasons at the plate and on the mound. From steady offensive production to valuable innings on the hill, this year's selections reflected consistency, impact, and growth across the roster, highlighted by senior leadership and emerging young talent making their mark in the American Southwest Conference.

ASC First Team:

Senior infielder Landon Prestage put together a strong season at the plate for Howard Payne University baseball, earning ASC All-Conference honors after being one of the most consistent bats in the lineup.

Prestage appeared in 33 games, all starts, finishing the year hitting .330 with 37 hits in 112 at-bats. He totaled 21 runs scored and 24 RBIs while providing extra-base production with 8 doubles, a triple, and 3 home runs.

He also showed solid plate discipline, drawing 18 walks and striking out just 19 times, giving him a steady presence throughout the season in the middle of the order.

Freshman pitcher Trace Garcia earned ASC All-Conference recognition after a steady debut season on the mound for Howard Payne University baseball, providing valuable innings and strikeout production throughout the year.

Garcia logged 42.2 innings pitched across the season, allowing 46 hits and 30 runs (27 earned) while striking out 35 batters against 16 walks. He also issued 3 hit-by-pitches and faced 189 batters over 565 pitches thrown.

Opponents finished 121-for-129 in scoring opportunities against him, and Garcia recorded 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 home runs allowed. He finished the season with a 5.70 ERA while showing flashes of swing-and-miss ability and competing consistently in his freshman campaign.

Junior outfielder Braden Franks turned in a productive year at the plate for Howard Payne University baseball, earning ASC All-Conference recognition after finishing as one of the more efficient hitters in the lineup.

Franks appeared in 27 games, starting all 27, and hit .346 across 104 at-bats. He collected 36 hits, scored 27 runs, and drove in 20 RBIs while providing consistent contact and run production throughout the season.

He added extra-base pop with 5 doubles, a triple, and 3 home runs, while also showing his speed on the bases with 4 stolen bases. Franks added 8 walks on the year and finished with just 17 strikeouts, continuing to keep pressure on opposing pitching staffs with a disciplined approach.

Senior outfielder Jace MacKenzie capped his season with ASC All-Conference honors after delivering one of the most consistent offensive performances for Howard Payne University baseball.

MacKenzie appeared in 40 games, starting all 40, and hit .360 across 125 at-bats. He finished with 45 hits, 29 runs scored, and 25 RBIs while serving as a steady presence at the top of the lineup.

He added extra-base production with 4 doubles, 2 triples, and a home run, while also contributing on the bases with 5 stolen bases. MacKenzie drew 23 walks on the year and struck out just 19 times, showcasing strong plate discipline to go along with his consistent contact approach.
