BROWNWOOD, Texas -Â The Howard Payne University women's soccer team has beaten Centenary College (LA) by a score of 3-0 Friday evening.

HPU applied pressure against Centenary early by winning a corner in the second minute of the match. Alayna Lopez added to the pressure with a couple shots within the first 15 minutes.
Madison LaDart continued her hot start to the season, as the reigning ASC Offensive Player of the Week scored the first goal of the game in the 40th minute of the game. Kenzie Cameron doubled the Lady Jackets with a free kick goal right before the end of the half reminiscent of the free kick she scored against LeTourneau University.
Summers' goal capped off the scoring for the night for HPU.
Howard Payne ended game with 20Â shots and 10 shots on target. Goalkeepers Landry Combs and Cadence Tischler combined to keep the third Lady Jackets clean sheet in the first four games.Â
"I'm happy to see the things we've been emphasizing pay off," head coach Brandon Badgeley said. "The players are stepping into their roles well, and the balance we're looking for in our rotation is coming together. It's great to see the girl's reaction, as they find success early this season. I'm especially excited tonight to see Brecken Summers get her first collegiate goal. She's battled back from a knee injury over the last year, and to see how excited she was to get that goal, and see the team celebrate her was special!"
