IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne University Lady Jackets continued their winning ways to start the season with a 3-0 win over the University of Dallas.

It was all Howard Payne early, as HPU probed the Crusaders goal with three shots before Alayna Lopez found Abbie Wetzel in the 17th minute to put the Lady Jackets up 1-0.

As the half rolled on, the Lady Jackets continued to apply pressure on Dallas's defense. HPU forced the Crusaders goalkeeper to make four saves on six shots before Madison LaDart scored the second goal of the game in the 44th minute.

Alec Alvarado recorded her first assist of the season on the play after she was able to beat the defender guarding her before putting in a low cross to LaDart who lofted her shot above the goalkeeper. Overall, Howard Payne dominated the first half with six shots on goal and a total of 12 shots.

In the beginning of the second half, the Lady Jackets worked to control the game, and then started to ramp up the pressure at the 65th minute mark by testing the Crusaders goalkeeper with four more shots.

The pressure HPU mounted paid off. Alvarado scored the Lady Jackets third goal of the match in the 80th minute.

University of Dallas was able to pull a goal back with a consolation goal scored a few minutes later.

Kenzie Cameron rounded off the scoring HPU off an assist by Abbie Wetzel in the 86th minute.
