2024: A 1st Team All-Conference as an outfielder, right fielder Tanner Benson started in all 37 games for the Yellow Jackets. Benson recorded a team-high .430 batting average, ranking him second in the ASC. He would also lead Howard Payne in runs (29), hits (61), home runs (3), RBI (28), and stolen bases (13). Benson notched a season-high four RBI on 2-for-4 from the plate while scoring two runs and hitting a double and a home run versus McMurry. He was also named to the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team and received the ASC Medal of Honor.

2023: A Third Team All-Conference selection, Benson started in 33 games this season. He recorded a total of 44 hits, 35 RBI, nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, and scored 28 runs. Benson had a season high of six hits, two home runs, five runs, and five RBI against Sul Ross State University. He was also named ASC hitter of the week, where he became the 11th player in ASC history to record six hits in a single game, going 6-for-7. Benson was a CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-Conference selection as well.

2022: Appearing in one game for the Yellow Jackets, Benson tallied two hits, two runs, and two RBI on just three at-bats. He was an Academic All-Conference selection as well.

2021: Appearing in 18 games for the Yellow Jackets, Tanner recorded 12 hits in 48 at-bats with three doubles, two home runs, and
11 RBI. He also recorded four runs and was 1-for-1 in stolen base attempts.

HS: Tanner attended Memorial High School in Frisco, Texas, where he was named Second Team All-District Outfield during his junior season and was the starting right fielder his senior year.

Personal: Tanner is the son of Beau and Julie Benson.  He is pursuing a degree in business administration and aspires to start his own business.
