BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne baseball team scored five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to post a 8-7 come from behind win over visiting Jarvis Christian College Friday afternoon at Don Shepard Park.

Down 7-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, HPU's Alan Sailors sacrifice fly to right field scored Ben Butler. Then a Dusty Taylor grounder scored Sam Dollahite to make the score 7-5 Jarvis Christian at the end of the seventh.

In the eighth, Ben Butler would reach on an error then advanced to second on the throw. The error scored Carlton Brown to bring the Jackets within on, 7-6.

A Dollahite tripled to left center would then score CJ Schumann, who had pitch ran for Butler, and  Conner Roberts to give HPU the lead for good 8-7.

Brown, Dollahite and Sailors each had two hits for the Jackets. Dollahite and Butler both had two RBIs.

Jayden Ballard recorded the win in relief for HPU giving up just two runs in two innings of work. Starter Jonathan Morris threw six full innings giving up five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Reed Klose pitched the final inning to record the save.

Howard Payne is now 3-0 on the year and Jarvis Christian falls to 2-2 overall. The Jackets will have a double header with Jarvis Christian on Saturday starting at noon.
