BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne women's basketball team used a run to start the second half and went on to dispatch Hardin-Simmons 69-58 Tuesday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

With Howard Payne leading 31-29 at the break, the Lady Jackets opened the second half with a 14-2 run and would go on to post a 69-58 conference victory over Hardin-Simmons.

Shooting 45% from the floor in the second half, Howard Payne would lead by as much as 22 with 6:07 remaining in the game. A free-throw by Corbin Holmes gave the Lady Jackets a 63-41 lead with 6:07 left.

The Lady Jacket defense played solid holding Hardin-Simmons to just 31% shooting from the field. HPU outrebounded HSU by three (46-43) and forced 17 Cowgirl turnovers while commiting eleven.

Danyel Bradley and Sarah Van Remmen each had 16 points for Howard Payne. Bradley added eight rebounds, four assists and five steals to her numbers. Jessica Galaviz had her best overall game as a Lady Jacket with 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Hardin-Simmons was led by Taylor Klement with a game high 17 points. Sara Vargas followed with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Howard Payne improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Hardin-Simmons falls to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in ASC action. The Lady Jackets will play next on Monday, Dec 22nd at the University of Texas at Dallas.
