Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team posted 25 total hits in 5-0 and 10-6 double header wins over the University of Texas at Tyler Saturday afternoon in conference action.

Colton Brown would set the tone for the Jackets leading off game one with a solo homerun to left field. Later in the inning, Connor Roberts doubled to left field to score John Elmore and Matthew Daniel.

Roberts singled to center field in the third to score Daniel again and bring the score to 4-0 Howard Payne. Cody Cain added another run in the sixth doubling to left field to plate Dustin DeJohn.

Jacob Spivey (4-4) recorded the complete game win for the Jackets allowing just five hits, striking out six and walking three. Roberts was 2-for-3 from the plate with three RBIs, Cody Cain was also 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In game two, Howard Payne got all their runs in two innings scoring five runs in the fourth and sixth innings. The Jackets racked up 17 hits in game two with four players recording three hits each in the game. 

Corey Howie (3-6) got the win going 8.0 innings and striking out seven. Senior Quinton Poe saw one inning in relief striking out one. Matthew Daniel was 3-for-4 for the plate with three RBIs and Cody Cain was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Howard Payne is now 17-20 overall and 14-16 in conference, UT-Tyler stands at 14-23 overall and 12-18 in ASC play. The Yellow Jackets will travel to Alpine, Texas to play Sul Ross State in their regular season finale next weekend. There will be a single game on Friday at 7:00 pm and a double header on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.
