CLARKSVILLE, Ark –
Danyel Bradley's last second shot to tie the game for Howard Payne did not go and the Lady Jackets fell 64-61 to the University of the Ozarks Monday evening in conference action.
After HPU's McKenzie Kimball was fouled on a made layup to pulled the Lady Jackets to within one, 62-61 with :30 seconds remaining in the game, she would miss free-throw to tie. Ozarks would then get a layup with :10 seconds left to go up three, 64-61.
Following an HPU timeout to set up a last shot,
Danyel Bradley's three-point shot would rim out with four seconds remaining to give Ozarks the 64-61 win.
Howard Payne fell behind by as much as 12 points but would battle back to tie the game twice in the second half. The Lady Jackets only lead would come at the start of the game 2-0.
Bradley led HPU with 15 points followed by
Sarahi Castillo with eight.
Kalin Hanna pulled down a team high 10 rebounds. HPU outrebounded Ozarks 53-46 but shot only 32% from the floor in the game.
Ozarks was led by Bryanna Moltz with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Roseanna Ezell followed with 16 points. Ashley Hipps added 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Howard Payne is now 6-4 overall and 3-3 in American Southwest Conference play. Ozarks stands at 7-5 overall and 4-4 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play next Saturday at home versus Louisiana College at 1:00 pm.
