BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne volleyball team fell to Hardin-Simmons in 3 sets (11-25, 28-30, 23-25) on Wednesday night falling to 1-14 on the season.
The Lady Jackets struggled on offense in the first set picking up only 6 kills, allowing HSU to gain a 1-0 match lead. In the second set Howard Payne found themselves down 24-20 but rallied back scoring five unanswered points to take a 25-24 lead and would battle back and forth before falling 30-28 giving Hardin-Simmons a 2-0 lead. The third set was the same as the Lady Jackets an early Hardin-Simmons lead before making a late comeback that would fall just short dropping the third and final set 25-23.
Howard Payne tallied 32 total kills with
Micah Cisneroz leading the way with 14.
Shelbie Harry followed with 10 kills respectively.
Cheyanne Lovelady once again held the hot hand and continues to increase her season high in assist with 18 on the match.
Analisa Anzaldua finished with 16 digs on the night.
As a team, Hardin-Simmons had 46 kills and 42 assists. Corrie Hall led with 13 kills. Allison Kuster followed had 10. Rebekah Hayes finished with 25 assists. Morgan Prince picked up 14. Lauren Wish had 14 digs on the match.
The Lady Jackets fall to 1-14 on the season and 1-6 in conference play. Hardin-Simmons is now 10-9 on the year and 4-3 in conference. Howard Payne will play next at Sul Ross State University on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 p.m.
