PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team fell to NCAA D-I Prairie View A&M 86-46 Friday afternoon in their 2015-16 season opener.

The Lady Jackets would only trail 16-11 at the end of the first quarter but it was a 26-7 Prairie View second that broke the game open. Prairie View shot 40% from the field while Howard Payne to 19% shooting to gain a 42-18 halftime advantage.

Howard Payne was outrebounded 68-34 and was held to 26% shooting for the game. 

Howard Payne did get solid play from Sarahi Castillo recording 13 points and eight rebounds. Danyel Bradley had a team high 14 points with seven rebounds and four assists. Ashley Caldwell added eight points and two blocks off the bench.

Prairie View was led by Larissa Scott with 19 points and 21 rebounds. Alexus Parker had 15 points, 13 rebounds and Tori carter finished with 20 points.

Howard Payne will play next on November 20-21 at the Colorado College Tournament in Colorado Springs, CO. The Lady Jackets will play Benedictine University on the 20th and Alverno College on the 21th.
