COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team nearly got a triple double from Danyel Bradley but fell 63-56 to Benedictine (IL) on day one of the Colorado College Tournament.

HPU's Danyel Bradley recorded a game high 28 points along with 10 rebounds, nine assists (new career high) and six steals versus Benedictine. 

The Lady Jackets used a 21-15 third quarter to pull to with one, 42-41, with one quarter to play. Benedictine would reverse that in the fourth outscoring HPU 21-15 to claim the game 63-56.

With Benedictine leading by 11, 60-49 with 3:05 remaining, the Lady Jackets would make a last push and pull to within six, 55-62 with :43 seconds remaining. 

The Lady Jackets were outrebounded 53-31 and the Benedictine's bench outscored Howard Payne's 22-2.

In Bradley's near triple double, she was 10-for-21 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Yessenia Cazares added 13 points and Sarahi Castillo grabbed seven rebounds.

Benedictine was led by Nicole Botich with 16 points followed by Briana Hamilton with 13 and Shannon Ryan with 10. DeKayla Crayton grabbed a game high 14 rebounds.

Howard Payne now stands at 0-2 overall and Benedictine is 2-1 on the year.. Howard Payne will play Alverno College on Saturday, day two of the Colorado College Tournament.
