BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team held LeTourneau University to just 12% shooting in the second half to post a 77-52 conference victory Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
After shooting 48% from the field in the first half, Howard Payne would hold a comfortable 42-28 halftime lead.
The Lady Jackets would tighten down the defense even more in the second half holding LeTourneau to just 12% shooting in the second. HPU would also outrebound LETU 60-40 for the game.
Howard Payne had three players finish with double doubles.
Danyel Bradley had a game high 25 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Sarah Van Remmen had 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Senior
Kalin Hanna added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Yessenia Cazares added 13 points.
LETU was led by Kalyn Shorter with 12 points and Ashley Stephens with eight rebounds.
Howard Payne finishes the regular season at 15-10 overall and 12-8 in conference play. LeTourneau ends their season at 8-17 overall and 6-14 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play Hardin-Simmons in the opening round of the ASC Tournament on Thursday at 5:00 pm. The women's ASC tournament is being hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler.,
