BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team fell 73-44 to #11 University of Texas at Tyler Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
UT-Tyler took an early 11-2 lead before the Lady Jackets scored six straight to make the score 11-8 UTT.
The Patriots went on a run from there to extend their lead to 17 with two minutes remaining in the half. UT-Tyler led 33-16 at the break.
Howard Payne committed 15 turnovers and was whistled for six offensive charges in the first period.
UT-Tyler pulled away in the second half leading by 35 with 3:37 left in the game. The Patriots would score 40 points off 28 Lady Jacket turnovers in the game.
Sarah Van Remmen led HPU with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Danyel Bradley followed with 12 points.
UT-Tyler was led by Madison Wilson with 17 points. Jasmin Baskin had 15 and Makenzi May finished with 14 points.
Howard Payne is now 12-9 overall and 9-7 in American Southwest Conference play. UT-Tyler is 21-1 overall and 16-1 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on the road at Louisiana College on Feb 12th.
