BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne volleyball team dropped their first match in the American Southwest Conference Crossover Challenge to #24 University of Texas at Dallas in 3 sets (11,25, 13-25, 9-25) on Friday afternoon.
Howard Payne hurt themselves defensively with 13 reception errors.
Micah Cisneroz led the team offensively with 7 kills.
Shelbie Harry picked up 6.
Taylor Reid had 12 digs and
Cheyanne Lovelady led with 10 assists.
UT-Dallas had things working for them on defense as they picked up digs in 50 of the Lady Jackets 85 attacks. Abbie Barth led with 15 digs. Michelle Toro led the team with 9 kills and Kayla Jordan had 33 assists in the match.
Howard Payne is now 0-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. UT-Dallas sits at 11-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will be back in action tomorrow in day 2 of the ASC Crossover Challenge and will take on Belhaven at 10 a.m. followed by the University of Texas at Tyler at 5:30 p.m.
