Jason Disney led the Howard Payne University defense with 15 tackles in a 54-15 conference loss to Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon.
The Howard Payne offense tallied 238 yards on the ground but only 88 in the air while Hardin-Simmons had 413 passing and 123 rushing.
Despite Howard Payne leading in time of possession in the game, Hardin-Simmons would jump out to a 28-0 led before the Jackets got on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter.

Derrick Williams with 6:28 remaining in the second quarter to make the score 28-7 HSU. The Jackets had an earlier opportunity at the start of the second quarter to score but a
Jason Disney 46 yard field goal attempt was blocked and returned 64 yards for a touchdown.
After leading 35-7 at the half, Hardin-Simmons extended its lead to 54-7 before the Jackets found the endzone again.

Caisson Montieth five-yard run capped a 14 play, 80 yard drive by the Jackets taking 5:28 off the clock. A two-point conversion run by
Austin Bauman made the score 54-15 HSU with 4:21 left in the game.
Jason Disney anchored the HPU defense with a game high 15 tackles (12 solo) along with a forced fumble.
Patrick Hunt followed Disney with 10 tackles.
Dylan Hudson,
Roderick Davis and
Chase Lindley each added six tackles.
Caisson Montieth had 64 yards passing and 84 rushing yards on 21 attempts which included one touchdown.
Trey Potter was 1 of 3 passing for 64 yards and one TD.
Ivy Smith had 69 yards on eight rushes and
Shannon Warren rushed 14 times for 58 yards.
Derrick Williams had two catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Howard Payne is now 0-6 overall and 0-3 in American Southwest Conference play. Hardin-Simmons stands at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in league action. The Jackets will trvel to Marshall, Texas next Saturday to play East Texas Baptist University. It will be a 6:00 pm kickoff time.Â
