BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team's ten game win streak was snapped by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 68-68 Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne shot just 31% from the field for the game, 20% in the first half, to record its first loss in the past eleven games.
Down 34-22 at the half, Mary Hardin-Baylor would eventually lead by as much as 32 points late in the third quarter. HPU would make a strong push in the fourth outscoring UMHB 29-7 in the final period.
UMHB outrebounded HPU 49-38 and the Lady Jackets would force 22 UMHB turnovers in the game.

Micah Cisneroz each finished with 13 points for Howard Payne. Cisneroz added a team high nine rebounds and four steals. Bradley had a game high four assists.
UMHB was led by Jonelle Smith with a game high 25 points and 12 rebounds. Kourtney Bevers and Tori Tucker each had 13 points.
Howard Payne is now 15-9 overall and 9-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Mary Hardin-Baylor stands at 13-10 overall and 8-5 in league play. The Lady Jackets will finish out the regular season next Saturday at home versus Sul Ross State University at 1:00 pm. It will be senior day and also a special gold out day for fans.
