Sherman, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell to Linfield 3-1 and defeated Paul Quinn 3-2 on day two of the Austin College Invitational Tournament hosted by Austin College.
The Lady Jackets dropped a tough one during the 1:00 p.m. match 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21, 25-13) to Linfield to start the day. Zhartezia Bradley led the team posting 11 kills and six blocks for Howard Payne. She was followed closely by Mya Ross with a season high eight kills and McKenna Walker added 17 assists.
The girl were back on the court again at 4:00 p.m. and it was a really well played match between the Lady Jackets and the Paul Quinn Lady Tigers. In both teams second match of the day, the Lady Jackets and Lady Tigers went five sets. The Lady Jackets prevailed in the end, getting their first win of the season 3-2Â (25-13, 18-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11). Bradley led again in kills with 15 followed by Kailey Doering's 14. McKenna Walker added 22 assists bringing her total for the weekend to 75, and Christian Wilson had 27 digs bringing her weekend total to 62.
Howard Payne is now 1-4 overall.
