BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University's
Jase Miguez scored a game high 24 points in a 96-82 non-conference loss to Centenary College Friday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.
HPU's
Jase Miguez went 3 of 5 from three-point range and 9 of 19 from the field.
Luke Cox also had a solid shooting night going 5 of 6 from long range finishing with 16 points.
For the game, HPU shot 50% from the field and 56.3% (9 of 16) from behind the arc but Centenary out rebounded the Jackets 47-30, 19 of which were on the offensive glass for Centenary.
Down 40-28 at the half, the Jackets posted a 54 point second half but it was not enough as Centenary secured the final 96-82.
Another factor in the game was the free-throw line with Centenary shooting 13 more free-throws than the Jackets and HPU only connecting on 57.9% (11 of 19) of its free shots.

Jase Miguez's 24 points was
Luke Cox with 16,
Tyrell Thompson added 11 points. Jayden Ballou finished with eight points and five assists.
Centenary was led by Neil Hawkins with 19 points and 11 rebounds followed by Cedric Harris and Ty Prince with 16 points each.
Howard Payne is now 1-4 overall and Centenary improves to 2-1 on the year. The Jackets will play next on Dec. 7th at 3:00 pm versus Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
