PLAINVIEW, Texas- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team fell 7-1 to the Wayland Baptist Pioneers this evening in non-conference action.
The Yellow Jackets fell behind in the first half with the Pioneers being able to find the back of the goal three times by the 12th minute mark of the game. Wayland Baptist scoring two more times to end the half 5-0.
HPU freshman
Miller Boykin was able to score his first collegiate goal with and assist by
Zachary Moreno in the 64th minute mark of the match, leading to the 7-1 final score.
The Yellow Jackets would be outshot 23-5 overall and 10-3 in shots on goal in the match.
Alexander Paz led the Jackets in total shots with two, along
Alejandro Lopez,
Joshua Rodriguez, and
Miller Boykin recording a shot on goal for HPU.
Matt Prall played the final 27 minutes in goal for the Jackets recording one save and
Andrew Hackney in the start played the first 63 minutes allowing the seven goals.
Howard Payne is now 0-5 overall, while Wayland Baptist is now 4-0-1 in the year. The Yellow Jackets will hit the road on Thursday Sep 19th, for a 7:00 pm match against Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
