ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team battled back from a double digit second half deficit to force overtime falling in the end 98-96 to McMurry University Thursday evening.
Down by two in overtime, Howard Payne's
Talen Davis put back a missed layup at the buzzer to tied the game but after video review the basket was ruled no good giving McMurry the 98-96 win.

HPU's
Jase Miguez had another solid outing scoring 31 points along with nine rebounds.
Luke Cox followed with 18 points on 5 of 9 three-point shooting.
Jaylan Ballou and
Jayden Modrall each had 10 points, Ballou added a game high five assists.
McMurry was led by Mike Williams with 32 points followed by Cody LaBlanc with 22 points.
Howard Payne stands at 1-12 overall and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference play. McMurry is now 6-7 overall and 1-3 in league action. The Jackets will play next on Saturday at 3:00 pm versus Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas.
