STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Howard Payne University guard
Mallory Garcia led the Lady Jackets with 12 points in a 76-50 road loss at D-I Tarleton State University Saturday afternoon.
Mallory Garcia scored 12 points off the bench for Howard Payne, Garcia was 4-for-7 from the three-point line in the game, after a 2-for-3 performance versus D-I Abilene Christian University earlier in the week.
Tarleton used a 26-7 opening quarter to gain control of the game. The Lady Jackets did bounce back in the second outscoring Tarleton 20-16 to trail 42-27 at the halftime break.
The Lady Jackets would outscore Tarleton in the fourth 12-11 on the way to the 76-50 Tarleton final.
Howard Payne forced 18 Tarleton turnovers in the game while committing 16 themselves. HPU would struggle shooting from the field connecting on just 28.6% of their shots. Tarleton finished the game shooting 50.9% from the field.

Kayla Brigance grabbed a team high six rebounds off the bench.
Tarleton was led by Iyana Dorsey with 17 points followed by Emily Cunningham with 16 points.
Howard Payne is now 0-2 on the year and Tarleton State stands at 1-1 overall. The Lady Jackets will play next on Dec. 5th at Hardin-Simmons University on Abilene, Texas. It will be a 1:00 pm start time.
