HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Howard Payne University's
Tyrell Thompson led the Yellow Jackets in scoring in a 117-54 loss to D-I Sam Houston State University Sunday evening.
Tyrell Thompson was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 3-for-6 from the field for 12 points. Thompson also grabbed five rebounds in the game.
The Yellow Jackets struggled offensively connecting on just 31% of their shots from the field and 12.9% from behind the arc.
Howard Payne did win on the free-throw line making 14 of 18 (77.8%) compared to just 10 of 16 (62.5%) for Sam Houston State. The Bearcats did out rebound the Jackets 50-29 on the night.

Michael House with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Reese Ridder added 10 points and
James Helzer finished with nine points.
Sam Houston State was led by Demarkus Lampley and Zach Nutall each with 20 points.
The Yellow Jackets will play next on Saturday, Dec. 12th versus Sul Ross State at 3:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
