AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team dropped an American Southwest Conference West Division game 86-71 to Concordia University Texas Thursday evening.
Despite Howard Payne out rebounding Concordia 44-25, the Tornados hit 16 of 29 three-pointers, ten in the second half, to pull away from the Lady Jackets in the 86-71 final.
With Howard Payne trailing 36-35 at the half, Concordia hit 10 of 12 three-pointers in the second half to outscore HPU by nine in the third and five in the fourth.
Turnovers also played a big factor in the game with HPU committing 24 on the night to 16 for Concordia.
HPU was led by 
Chelsey Harris with 21 points followed by 
Bria Neal with 13 points and seven rebounds. 
Anastasia Willis added 10 points and a game high 12 rebounds. 
Salina Ali had three assists.
Kaycie Dunkerley led Concordia with 23 points followed by Natalie Valarsez with 14 points.
Howard Payne is now 8-12 overall and 4-7 in ASC play. Concordia stands at 8-12 overall and 5-6 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1:00 pm.
