STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball loss 113-53 in an exhibition at D-I Tarleton State University Monday evening at Wisdon Gymnasium.
Off the bench,
Jerren Godfrey led the Yellow Jackets with 11 points sparked by 3 of 4 shooting from behind the three-point line.Â
The Jackets scored 31 points in the first half but could not overcome a 68 point first period by the Texans. Tarleton shot 61.0% from the field up to the halftime break.
Howard Payne connected on 9 of 24 three-point shots as a team. Shooting 34.0% from the field on the night, the Jackets were 12 of 18 from the free-throw for 66.7%.
Following Godfrey's 11 points was
James Helzer with eight points.
Tyrell Thompson had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds..
Jaylan Ballou added three assists.
Tarleton State was led by Konstanin Dotsenko with 25 points followed by Monte Gipson with 23 points and six assists.
The Yellow Jackets will have a pair of conference road games later this week, Thursday at UT Dallas at 6:30 pm and Saturday at the University of the Ozarks at 3:00 pm.
