PINEVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team was led by Evan Adkins in a loss to Louisiana College 72-51 Thursday evening in conference action.

Howard Payne guard Evan Adkins scored 12 points off the bench for the Yellow Jackets in the road loss for HPU at Louisiana College.

The Yellow Jackets fell behind midway through the first half but closed the gap slightly to end the half trailing 37-26 at the break.

Louisiana College again extended its lead in the second half but this time the Jackets were unable to put a run together in the second on the way to the 72-51 final.

Following Evan Adkins's 12 points for the Jackets was Tyrell Thompson with 11 points. Jaylan Ballou added eight points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.

LC was led by Kae'ron Baker and Galen Smith with 16 points each followed by Malik Cooper with 14 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets will play next on Saturday, Jan. 9th at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss. at 3:00 pm.
